What did you say?

9 Mar

One of the coolest things my husband and I love about parenting is trying to decipher what exactly our children are trying to say. Now, that Jake is getting older, the words he mispronounces are few and far between. We don’t correct him because, frankly, it’s so darn cute. We can’t wait for James to start talking! At this stage, he pretty much just does what we call ewok talk with all the hand gestures…

Some Jakeisms past and present:

Gnore – ignore

Appropriated – appropriate

Zwebra – zebra

Vernoxious – obnoxious

Eyebrowns – eyebrows

Gertar – guitar

Butatoes – potatoes

Burr Rita Ro – burrito

Tessert – dessert

Loomey toons – looney tunes

Dekettles – decals

Burritro – burrito

Bernana – banana

Yogret – yogurt

What words do your children say that aren’t exactly correct?

    Here’s a couple to share…
When my son was 4 we asked him if he liked swimming, his reply…”Yeah, I like women”
    and
When my daughter was 3 or 4 she was eating a bowl of rice krispies (you know the snap, crackle and pop cereal)…but instead, she said…”Mom, they’re crapping in my bowl”.
Kids do say the darndest things…gotta love them:)

Funny…and strange…Jenna nearly never mispronounces anything! But, there is ONE word she consistently mispronounces and I hope she always does, because it is so cute:
    BREF-TIX (breakfast). :)

There are too many to list but my favorites are that Alyssa would say ‘ken-kel’ for Kendall, we were all very sad when she started pronouncing it correctly. She also loves carrying around sticks but sticks comes out ‘dicks’ so when she proudly displayed her ‘big dick’ to her auntie Liz we were all cracking up and Liz was mortified, not realizing she was talking about a stick.
